Whitney Hotsinpiller, MD

Born and raised in Florence, Dr. Whitney Hotsinpiller is a highly skilled radiation oncologist dedicated to providing exceptional care for her patients at Alliance Cancer Care. She attended the University of Tennessee on both academic and Tennessee Dance Team scholarships. She graduated Summa Cum Laude in Honor Engineering College with a Bachelor of Science in Nuclear Engineering, while also minoring in Business Administration. Dr. Hotsinpiller received her medical doctorate from the University of South Alabama’s Frederick P. Whiddon College of Medicine in Mobile, Alabama. She concluded her training as a radiation oncology resident at the NCCN- designated O’Neal Comprehensive Cancer Center at the University of Alabama Birmingham, where she served as Chief Resident.

During her residency, Dr. Hotsinpiller actively investigated the utilization of the newest technologies and treatments for many types of cancers including breast cancer, lung cancer, benign brain tumors, and bladder cancer. She also studied exercise therapy for patients who have completed cancer-related treatment to improve quality of life and physical well-being for cancer survivors. She was asked to present her research at many national meetings and was awarded the research award by the faculty at UAB.

Dr. Hotsinpiller is eager to help her patients through the difficult journey of fighting cancer, maximizing a patient-centered approach at every encounter. She is known for her compassionate care and active listening to her patients’ questions and concerns. Dr. Hotsinpiller treats many cancer types and patients of all ages. She trained in several treatment modalities, including stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT), stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS), intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT), volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT), and high dose-rate brachytherapy (HDR brachytherapy). She works closely with several multidisciplinary teams across North Alabama to ensure individualized treatment that is both comprehensive and coordinated.

Dr. Hotsinpiller is thrilled she has returned to her roots surrounding the Tennessee River. She lives in Athens with her husband, Brandon, and her son. Dr. Hotsinpiller thrives on engagement in the community. She can hardly resist turning down any invite to mingle with friends and family and loves meeting new people. Whenever she has the chance, she looks for opportunities to dance, attend sporting events, and travel.
