The Radiation Therapist performs all aspects of radiation therapy treatment as well as patient assessment and management of side effects, quality control, accurate treatment chart documentation, billing, and patient scheduling. The Radiation Therapist must understand computer plans, contours, and dose calculations and have the ability to work in a fast paced environment. We utilize 3D, IMRT, IGRT, VMAT, SBRT, SRS and HDR treatments.

Medical Office Specialist

Certified Medical Dosimetrist

Ideal candidates for this role will have at least three years of experience as a Certified Medical Dosimetrist using Eclipse treatment planning system and Varian/ARIA EMR. Position is remote, with occasional on-site meetings in Huntsville, Alabama.

Nurse Practitioner

Pay: $80,000.00 – $100,000.00 per year

Alliance Cancer Care located in beautiful Huntsville, Alabama is seeking a full time Radiation Oncology Nurse Practitioner. The Radiation Oncology Nurse Practitioner will work collaboratively with the Radiation Oncologist assisting in the management of the care of cancer patients from the initial consultation, through the time of radiation therapy, and the follow-up care after treatment. The long term goal will be to independently manage patient follow up care, with guidance from the physician as needed, including the opportunity for an independent follow-up clinic.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide exemplary care to patients, their family and your teammates.
  • Provide leadership, direction, and assistance – to both patients and teammates.
  • Review the available medical records prior to patients’ consultation or follow-up appointments to understand their diagnosis and care, including identifying any information gaps.
  • Independently complete patient assessments, evaluate diagnoses and care pathways, and coordinate treatment recommendations and follow up for radiation oncology patients.
  • Synthesize data and utilize evidence to develop, implement, and evaluate the care plan, including ordering and interpreting laboratory, radiology, and other diagnostic studies/results.
  • Provide education regarding what to expect during radiation treatment and follow-up afterwards.
  • Complete full and appropriate documentation in the electronic medical record.
  • Prescribe appropriate medications or otherwise recommend treatments to manage wellness.
  • Work with an interdisciplinary team of professionals to provide the best care for patients.
  • Manage patient follow-up visits regarding patients’ recovery after radiation and their disease control.
  • Maintain clinical core competencies and continue your medical education, particularly as it relates to oncology care.

QUALIFICATIONS & EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Current state NP licensure in good standing
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Minimum of 3 years’ clinical experience required; Experience in oncology preferred, but is secondary to cooperative team engagement (partnership, service, teamwork, leadership, compassion, integrity, trust and respect)

POSITION SPECIFICS

  • Majority of care is provided on an outpatient basis.
  • Clinic hours are Monday-Friday 8:00 – 5:00.
  • Salaried exempt professional level position.
